Filigree is a technique that dates 3000 yrs. BC was brought to Mexico by the Spaniards in the 1500s. It has literally - spun - diverse cultures around the world.
This piece combines the Filigree talents of Oaxacan goldsmiths and the Oaxacan embroidery of the San Antonino Dress in the embroidered hearts.
Filigree: Each piece is meticulously created out of copper wire and spun into a beautiful lace design that is then dipped in a thin veil of 22-carat gold. Over time they will develop a distinct patina.
Embroidered Hearts: Each San Antonio Heart is handmade and embroidered in silk over muslin (manta) fabric bordered by rondelle crystal beads.
